The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Frida Mokaya Boyani as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.
JSC settled on Mokaya after interviewing the 7 candidates who had been shortlisted for the position that fell vacant after the retirement of Anne Amadi on January 12, 2024.
43 candidates applied for the advertised position, and on Monday, the 7 shortlisted candidates faced the JSC interview panel.
Mokaya previously held the position of JSC Registrar, which she took over in 2012 after serving as a Senior Principle Magistrate. She has over 27 years experience in the legal profession.
Others who had been shortlisted for the position include Macharia Rose Wachuka, Ouma Jack Busalile Mwimali, Wambeti Anne Ireri, Ndemo Paul Maina, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen, and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.
As a Chief Registrar, Mokaya’s functions include; administering the Judiciary Fund, prepare estimates of expenditure, among other administrative and procurement functions.
