Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has assured Kenyans of his safety after the helicopter he was traveling in made an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu constituency.
Mwaura explained that the landing was necessitated by poor weather conditions. He was accompanied by Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Idriss Ahmed.
The two, along with other officials, were returning from Nyando, Kisumu County, where they had delivered relief non-food items to residents displaced by floods.
“I am safe, fellow Kenyans. Our helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu Constituency due to poor weather conditions. Idriss Ahmed, the Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross, and I had gone to Nyando in Kisumu to deliver relief non-food items to the Floods Affected Persons (FAPs).
“We arrived home safely, and we thank God for this. Happy World Red Cross Day,” Mwaura said.
Mwaura and Idriss issued relief to 441 flood-affected persons at Nduru Secondary School on Tuesday.
The package handed to each family was worth Sh6,500 each.
Mwaura has been going around the country assessing the flood situation and distributing aid to the most affected residents.
