Results of the DV-2025 Diversity Visa program will be available online starting Saturday, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 7pm local time.
The entry period for DV-2025 was between October 4, 2023 and November 7, 2023.
The Diversity Visa program, popularly known as the Green Card Lottery, is run by the US State Department and makes available on a lottery basis up to 55,000 green cards to nationalities with historically low rates on immigration to the US.
The goal of the program is to diversify the US immigrant population.
To participate in the program, applicants must be natives of countries that have had less than 50,000 of its citizens migrate to the US in the previous five years.
For DV-2025, native of the following countries are ineligible to participate in the program because more than 50,000 of their natives migrated to the US in the previous five years: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, The People’s Republic of China (including mainland and Hong Kong born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Venezuela, and Vietnam. Natives of Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible.
Those who submitted entries can check if they are month the lucky winners at this link: https://dvprogram.state.gov. Entrants will need to have their confirmation number to check the win status.
Those who win the lottery will need to undergo an immigrant visa process at a US embassy or consulate starting in early 2025 before they can relocate to the US. To qualify for an immigrant visa (green card), winners need to have at least a high school education, or at least two years of work experience in an occupation which requires at least two other years of training or experience.
