Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino, on Thursday, told a Nairobi court that he has spent Sh58.6 million to cater for the medical bills and the upkeep of DJ Evolve.
He further stated that it is a moral obligation for him as a leader to take responsibility for Evolve.
Babu Owino’s statement was in response to the court’s declaration that he had a case to answer in line with misusing a gun that shot the DJ at B Club in 2020.
“I took charge of the life-saving initiative and endeavours of Felix Orinda as a leader. And that would be inconsistent with a person who intended to harm,” Owino told the court.
Owino informed the Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi that had he not taken action, Evolve could have died.
He said he intends to purchase a car and create a DJ school for Evolve.
Also, Owino plans to take him to India for further treatment. The MP denied that his firearm fired a bullet, saying it was jammed.
Meanwhile, the MP has blamed National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula for the absenteeism of many MPs during the Finance Bill voting.
According to Babu, the Speaker had declared that the voting will only occur during the third reading of the Bill and that the second reading only requires a debate.
