Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau alias Kate Actress and husband Philip Karanja have announced the end of their marriage of five years.
The couple took to social media to release a joint statement, confirming that they have long called it quits and are now separated.
The former celebrity couple who got married in November of 2017, went on to request for privacy for them and their two children, a son from Kate’s previous relationship and a daughter born in 2020.
“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and are separated. We sincerely request everyone to honor our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” the statement read.
Following the announcement, Kate quipped that the state of their marriage was not a secret but rather they just chose to keep it private. This was echoed by her film director ex husband Phil who added that they will remain as friends, co-parents and business partners.
In April of 2023, rumors of their marriage woes were set ablaze when Kate deleted all photos of her husband on her social media pages. Fans immediately began to question the move and wonder if there was trouble in paradise. The couple, however, remained tight-lipped about the issue, leading to even more speculation.
