According to a recent report, the Kenyan passport has maintained its position as the 67th most powerful travel document in the world.
In contrast to the declining rankings of other African passports, the Kenyan passport has maintained its position.
Additionally, the report highlights that Kenyan citizens can travel to 76 countries without a visa or obtain one upon arrival, a figure that has remained constant since January.
Mauritius, the leading African nation in terms of passport rankings, has dropped one spot to 29th globally, enabling passport holders to visit 148 countries without a visa.
Lesotho, Namibia, and Malawi have experienced drops in their rankings, just like South Africa which has fallen from 51st to 53rd place. The mobility score, a significant indicator of passport strength, evaluates the number of countries that can be accessed without a visa or with a visa on arrival.
On the other hand, Kenya has earned recognition as the most hospitable country globally, achieving a perfect score of 198 out of a total openness score of 198. This accomplishment is shared by nations such as Burundi, Cape Verde Islands, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Maldives, Mozambique, and Rwanda.
A detailed assessment has been conducted using data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to create a comprehensive list that measures the ease of access to all 199 countries and territories worldwide. This list takes into account the number of destinations that can be explored without the requirement of a prior visa.
The nations that have emerged as the frontrunners, possessing the most powerful passports globally, consist of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain.
