Residents of Mwingi Court in Kileleshwa staged a protest on Sunday against the illegal construction of a commercial building in their residential area, despite a court order halting further construction.
The residents expressed frustration over the continued construction activities, which they claim have been ongoing day and night, leading to noise pollution and the destruction of mature trees in the vicinity.
Julius Musyoka, a resident, highlighted the lack of authorization from the county government for the construction and urged the Nairobi County Government to intervene and halt the development of the commercial structure.
Lucy Mwangi, another resident of Mwingi Court, voiced concerns about the lack of stakeholder participation in the development process, emphasizing that the area is designated as residential and raising worries about the impact on the community, particularly families with young children.
