Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has announced plans to establish a level six health facility in the new Machakos City to enhance the county’s healthcare system.
Speaking after commissioning the Kithangaini Level Two Hospital in Mwala Sub-County, Wavinya stated that the new facility aims to alleviate congestion in existing healthcare facilities and address more complex health issues locally.
She revealed that the masterplan for the entire project was already in place, with construction set to begin in the upcoming financial year. The proposed facility is expected to serve the entire lower eastern region, including Makueni, Kitui, Kajiado, and Murang’a counties.
Additionally, a Mother and Child maternity complex will be established in the new city to exclusively handle all pre-natal and post-natal cases.
