Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has disclosed that the construction of Masinde Muliro Stadium, slated to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations, has encountered some challenges.
Speaking to the press on Thursday during a stadium tour, Omollo noted a shortage of workers, stating that the government has deployed additional National Youth Service officers to expedite the completion process.
“We have experienced some slight delays in completing the stadium, primarily due to a shortage of workers, especially in installing terraces,” the PS said.
Omollo mentioned that the stadium, along with the state lodge and Matulo airstrip in Webuye, are nearing completion. “Together with my fellow PSs, we have inspected the three facilities and confirmed that they are approximately 90 percent complete.”
Accompanied by Teresia Mbaika, PS for Devolution, and Veronica Nduva from the State Department of Performance and Delivery Management, Omollo highlighted ongoing rehabilitation of feeder roads within Bungoma County.
