Outspoken Kenyan lawyer Miguna Miguna has now shared his new phone number a day after returning to the country from exile in Canada.
Taking to Twitter on Friday morning, the no-nonsense self-declared General however cautioned Kenyans against adding him to unnecessary WhatsApp groups without his consent.
While noting that he may not be able to pick up all calls or respond to all texts, he expressed gratitude to his fellow citizens for welcoming him back home.
Miguna, who on Thursday attended the Mashujaa Day Celebrations and later a garden party at State House on the invite of President William Ruto, also noted that he enjoyed his first day back in Kenya.
He wrote: “The return to my motherland yesterday was historic. I had a fantastic first day and night. Thank you to all Kenyans who embraced and welcomed me back home. My new number is: 075-707-7930. Apologies in advance if I don’t respond to, or answer everyone’s call/text. Viva!”
“Please do not add me to WhatsApp groups without permission. I thank everyone sincerely for the overwhelming support. There is nothing sweeter than home!”
Miguna, who was exiled to Canada in 2018, arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday at around 6am.
He was greeted by a large crowd of supporters and expressed his joy at returning home after nearly five years away.
“I am very very very grateful for the warm welcome that you have given me, and I am extremely happy to be back home. I extend my gratitude to all Kenyans who have stood with me, with the Bill of Rights in the Constitution, with the cause of justice, the dictates of democracy and the dictates of the rule of law,” he said in a press address at the airport.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to the Judiciary that stood firm with the rule of law. I must extend my gratitude to Kenyans who voted overwhelmingly for the Kenya Kwanza government because that is central for me. Without this administration, I would not be back home.”
