The Nairobi Expressway will close temporarily this weekend to pave the way for the Nairobi City Marathon.
Moja Expressway Company, through a public notice issued Monday, said the highway will be closed on Saturday, July 1 at 10 pm, and open on Sunday, July 2 at 4 pm.
“Please note that the Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed from Saturday, 1st July 2023 at 10 pm to Sunday, 2nd July 2023 at 4 pm as we host the 2nd edition of the Nairobi City Marathon. We kindly request all motorists and commuters to plan their journeys accordingly,” said the highway’s manager.
The Nairobi City Marathon is an annual event on the 27-kilometre-long highway whose proceeds go towards supporting a cause.
This will be its second edition. According to the marathon’s organisers, this year’s event is themed on environmental sustenance, where for every kilometre one will run, a tree will be planted.
