A woman caught on video allegedly beating up a female security guard she accused of having an affair with her husband was on Thursday charged with assault and issuing death threats.
Alvin Ochieng, 34, was arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts accused of unlawfully assaulting and causing bodily harm to guard Miriam Sifuna contrary to section 251 of the Penal Code.
The suspect was also accused of threatening to kill the guard after allegedly uttering words “nitakuua” ( I’ll kill you) to the complainant without any lawful excuse in contravention of section 223 (1) of the criminal procedure code. The suspect is accused of committing the crimes on September 26.
The accused person was allegedly accusing the complainant of having an affair with her husband during the alleged assault. Sifuna guards the house where the suspect lives.
According to the video that has since gone viral, the suspect is seen dragging the guard on the ground while urging her to remove the uniforms and go live in her house.
The guard reported the matter at the Embakasi police station the next day and the suspect who works at an office in Westlands, Nairobi was arrested.
She denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti of the Makadara Law Courts and pleaded for lenient bail and bond terms.
She told the court through an advocate that she has fixed abode in the state which is known to the police.
She was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000.
The case will be mentioned on December 7 before hearing starts on June 26 next year.
