Television actor, Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula has finally been laid to rest.
Papa’s body was ferried to his home in Nanderema in Samia, Funyula Constituency in Busia County in the early hours of Monday.
Health protocols were strictly observed during the burial process in accordance with the Health ministry, with mourners being screened of the coronavirus.
Ministry of Health officials and members of the county Covid-19 rapid response team on Sunday spent time outlining protocols to the family and mourners who had come to condole with them.
Only close family members would be allowed into the compound when the body arrived, they said.
Born in 1963, Papa was the first born in a family of 13 and had eight brothers and four sisters.
He attended Busia Township Primary School and sat his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) in 1977 before joining Budalangi Secondary School.
He passed away on Saturday morning at Karen Hospital, Nairobi after developing breathing complications.
He will be remembered by many for his outstanding character at the longest-running TV comedy-drama programme dubbed “Papa Shirandula” on a local channel, Citizen TV who played as an animated watchman.
