Posco International Nairobi office last week visited Ruiru Rehabilitation Centre and donated food stuff and other accessories in a way of giving back to the community.
During their visit, Posco employees led by the Managing Director Mr Ji Ki Chun spend the day and interacted with the children, facility’s staff, and management.
Based on Posco’s management philosophy of ‘Corporate Citizenship: Building a Better Future Together’, Posco contributes to making a better world and strives to create greater enterprise values.
The Nairobi office staff shared a meal with the kids as they have fun.
The Kids later showcased their talent through various perfomances such as dancing, singing, acrobats, Poems and fashion show.
The staff gave motivational talks to the Kids and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
Posco International has taken this annual initiative to assist the needy groups as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The children, currently between the ages of 6 to 17 years attend primary education, Secondary and Colleges and live at the centre where all basic necessities are provided.
Once they progress to secondary school as well as higher learning institutions they continue to support the children for both accommodation (boarding) as well as support in gaining employment. There are so many success stories from Ruiru, with many lives having been changed.
Ruiru Rhabilitation Centre was founded in 1997, and has been caring and protecting orphan, vulnerable, desperate children and families through provision of secure, healthy, and loving environment.
Posco International plans to undertake more of such activities in the coming years.
The facility has a farm where Kids grow their own crops through irrigation.
