President William Ruto inaugurated the Ksh.9.6 billion Bunge Towers on Thursday morning, marking the completion of a project that faced a brief postponement due to the untimely passing of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla.
Originally scheduled for April 19, the launch was rescheduled as a mark of respect for General Ogolla.
Accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Speakers Moses Wetangula (National Assembly) and Amaso Kinngi (Senate), President Ruto led a tour of the impressive facility following its official opening, joined by other notable leaders.
Speaker Kinngi underscored the importance of the Towers, noting that it will enable the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) to save approximately Ksh.400 million annually on rental expenses for parliamentary meeting facilities.
The 28-storey building offers luxurious amenities for Kenyan legislators, including a gym, a beauty parlor, and a restaurant. It also provides committee rooms where members can conduct their parliamentary affairs.
The building is connected to the parliament buildings via an underground tunnel, ensuring security and ease of access for Members of Parliament.
