Safaricom on Wednesday formally launched the new MySafaricom App which has been on Beta since February 2020.
The new lifestyle app will provide customers and users with an easy and efficient way to access its products and services under one roof.
“For the new Safaricom app, we set out to do a lifestyle app, not a utility one, and we hope customers will have better experiences,” said Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi, Safaricom Head of Digital Products and Services during its formal launch Wednesday.
The new MySafaricom app brings all the features one is used to the old app but with a better user interface plus new features.
Fawzia said through the app, users have more visibility on their usage with the new app.
The app comes with three critical pillars: Security, an automatic authentication using a One Time Password (OTP) when a user signs up; Control, for postpaid customers who can be able to see their usage daily, and Usage where users will be able to know how much data they have used.
The new app uses a clean tabbed interface that organizes content quite well.
There are 5 tabs: Home, M-pes, Safaricom button, Discover and Account. Home allows you to get certain Safaricom services quickly and easy.
The MPESA menu allows you to access all M-pesa services easily. The Safaricom button is a shortcut button for easy access to Safaricom services. The Discover button lets you access other content like reading newspapers. The Account tab shows you your phone number, your tariff, PUK numbers, Sambaza features and more.
Safaricom has also added some attractive features to the app. You can now scan numbers from scratch cards to load airtime automatically.
Other features that we saw being integrated before include paying for Home Fibre subscription right from the app.
To sweeten the deal further, Safaricom is also giving out free 500MB of data when you download the app.
You can try out the new app on Google Play and it is now also available on iOS on the App Store.
