The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on Sunday reduced the price of super petrol and diesel by Sh5.
EPRA said in a statement that over the next month beginning January 15, kerosene will retail at Sh4.82 less.
As a result, super petrol in Nairobi will retail at Sh207.36 cents per litre, while diesel will go for Sh196.47. Kerosene will meanwhile cost Sh194.23 per litre.
Similarly in Mombasa, super petrol will retail at Sh204.30 cents per litre, while diesel will go for Sh193.41 as kerosene costs Sh191.05 per litre.
EPRA attributed the drop in prices to the average landed cost of imported super petrol decreasing by 2.40 per cent between November and December last year.
Diesel also saw a decrease of 9.06 per cent in the same period, while kerosene dropped by 4.33 per cent.
“The average landed cost of imported super petrol decreased by 2.40% from US$694.44 per cubic metre in November 2023 to US$677.78 per cubic metre in December 2023; diesel decreased by 9.06% from US$826.01 per cubic metre to US$751.15 per cubic metre while kerosene decreased by 4.33% from US$759.93 per cubic metre to US$727.00 per cubic metre,” EPRA said.
