One of the suspects behind the shooting of a man and robbery of more than Sh3.9 million in Eastleigh, Nairobi, was arrested in Mombasa.
The suspect was trailed to the coastal city and caught as he waited to buy a car for his personal use, police said,
The arrest follows intensive efforts by a team of detectives who are actively pursuing leads to apprehend all individuals involved in the crime.
The victim, Adan Ali Mohamed, sustained severe gunshot wounds during the attack, which took place on March 30.
He was reportedly robbed of $30,000 (equivalent to Sh3,969,726). Although the suspect arrested in Mombasa has been linked to the scene of the robbery, investigators are continuing their search for additional suspects believed to be involved in the incident.
Details regarding the recovery of the stolen cash remain undisclosed at this time. However, authorities remain focused on bringing all perpetrators to justice and recovering any stolen assets.
The brazen attack, which occurred in broad daylight at a crowded location, was captured on security cameras.
The assailant, riding on a motorbike, confronted the victim and demanded the bag containing the cash. When the victim hesitated, he was shot at close range, resulting in severe injuries.
Medical professionals treating the victim reported that the bullet had damaged the spinal cord before exiting from the back.
