The founder of Keroche Breweries Ltd. And CEO Tabitha Karanja has called it a day after 25 years with the company.
Karanja, who is currently Nakuru senator, will be replaced by Potas Anaya.
Her resignation will allow her to focus on the county where she was elected last year.
Karanja is credited with growing the company into one of the largest locally owned breweries in the country.
It competes with some of the big players, including East African Breweries Limited (EABL) and Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL).
However, the company has been at loggerheads with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over unpaid dues.
The KRA’s tiff with the Naivasha-based brewer started in 2006 when the taxman reclassified its fortified wine products under the Harmonised System Code Tariff.
The reclassification resulted in the KRA collecting Sh1.1 billion in taxes.
