The University of Nairobi’s Council has made the decision to place Vice-Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama on compulsory leave. This was decided during a council meeting held on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Chairperson of the council, Amukova Anangwe, announced that Prof Ayub Njoroge Gitau has been appointed as the acting Vice-Chancellor.
The council did not disclose the reason behind this decision.
“The Council resolves that the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi proceeds on leave effective April 19, 2024. That Prof. Ayub Njoroge Gitau, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, is appointed to act as the Vice Chancellor with effect from Friday, April 19, 2024,” read the memo in part.
