BET has announced that Grammy Award-winning global entertainment icon Usher will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement BET Award at the 2024 BET Awards.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on June 30 from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. This coveted award is given to industry pioneers who have made significant contributions to culture and the entertainment industry.
The Lifetime Achievement BET Award recognizes special achievements and distinguished public service. Last year, the honor was bestowed upon Busta Rhymes. Other previous recipients include iconic figures such as Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, Samuel Jackson, Lionel Richie, and New Edition.
“The relationship between BET and Usher spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards,” said Connie Orlando, BET EVP of Specials, Music Programming, and Music Strategy.
Usher is one of the best-selling artists in music history, with a career spanning three decades and over 80 million records sold worldwide. His groundbreaking albums, including My Way and Confessions, have shattered records and earned him numerous accolades, including eight Grammy Awards.
Usher’s impact on the music industry is undeniable, and his recognition with the Lifetime Achievement BET Award underscores his enduring influence and contributions to the world of entertainment.
