News anchor Victoria Rubadiri is bidding farewell to Citizen TV after six years.
Her departure was announced on Sunday by Linus Kaikai, the Group Editorial Director of Royal Media Services (RMS). Kaikai expressed sadness over Rubadiri’s departure but also pride in the work she has accomplished at Citizen TV. Rubadiri had joined Citizen TV from the Nation Media Group in 2018.
During her time at Citizen TV, Rubadiri clinched the prestigious Komla Dumor award, which led her to briefly relocate to London and work with the BBC for three months. Winners of this award undergo a three-month training program with the BBC.
Rubadiri now joins the ranks of high-profile news anchors who have left Citizen TV. Last year, Waihiga Mwaura, also a Komla Dumor award winner, joined the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a senior news anchor for the Focus on Africa program. Additionally, Senior Political Editor Francis Gachuri left to work with the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
This year, senior reporters Chemutai Goin and Hassan Mugambi also departed. Goin joined the office of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, while Mugambi moved to work with the Ministry of Defence.
