An unidentified woman on Sunday collapsed and died while praying at a church in Nairobi.
Police said the church pastor reported they were in the church when the middle-aged woman collapsed. She was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police were later called to the hospital and scene where the incident happened for processing. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are yet to know the cause of the death.
“An autopsy will be conducted on the body after we identify her. This will help in the probe at large,” he said.
Other congregants at the church said they thought the woman had fainted while praying. It was until when ushers said the incident was serious that they rushed her to a car and later to the hospital.
Bungei said experts will handle the matter to establish what happened. He said the body did not have any visible injuries at the time it was inspected at the hospital.
Meanwhile, a man died after falling from the fifteenth floor of a building in California, Nairobi. Shandrack Oyier, 30, slid and fell off while laying tiles on the floor of the house on Sunday evening.
Witnesses said the man slid off an opening which was unsecured and suffered fractured limbs, legs, and ribs. Police said he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead while being attended to.
Such incidents have been on the rise at construction sites amid calls to take measures to address them. Police say they receive up to two incidents of fatal falls at workplaces a week, which is alarming.
