Detectives at the Kilimani Police Station have questioned Lamu Senator Joseph Githuku after a woman was stabbed at a party within a short term rental apartment in the area last week.
According to the police, the politician and three women were holding an overnight party at the apartment when Patricia Muthoni Karanja was stabbed several times.
“The stab wound was pretty deep,” said Kilimani Sub County Police Commander Kobia Bairu.
“She was stabbed in the lower left abdomen,” said the police boss.
Muthoni had been invited to a meeting within Kilimani by the Senator which progressed into an overnight party at a club in the area.
As the party went on, two more women who are known to the politician joined them. The party was then transferred to an Air BnB. While at the AirBnB the two women turned their rage on Muthoni and stabbed her several times.
The legislator and the two women then locked Muthoni in the apartment and left. She was rescued after banging on the door for 40 minutes by the apartment’s care taker who rushed her to hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
