A middle aged boda boda rider based in Kitengela was on Tuesday night found murdered and dumped by the roadside.
His motorcycle is believed to have been stolen.
The deceased body was found lying in a pool of blood on Wednesday Morning along Kitengela-Nkurunka road.
He was wearing a reflector jacket and his helmet laid beside him.
“We suspect he was waylaid by either people known to him or customers before he was attached. The target was his new motorcycle that is now missing,” said John Ombati, a fellow boda boda rider.
Kitengela riders have condemned the incident and raised concern over increased attacks especially at night.
This is the third incident reported in the last two months.
“We want security agencies to intensify the night patrols. A gang of boda boda riders are operating in the most cavalier manner leaving a trail of death,” Victor Kamau, a rider said.
The body was moved by police to Kitengela sub-county hospital mortuary.
Isinya Sub County Police commander Patrick Manyasi told Nation the investigation has been launched.
“We have launched an investigation. We are asking anyone with information that can help to apprehend the suspects to come forward,” he said.
According to the Boda boda Safety Association of Kenya (BAK) Kajiado County branch data, the motorcycle sector commonly known us boda boda in the vast county has been taken captive by a gang of criminals who are killing, maiming and stealing motorcycles to the chagrin of riders.
Kajiado County BAK chairman Alex Gitari recently told Nation on Monday that stolen motorcycles either end up in Lokolo informal settlement Tanzania through the porous border line and Kiamaiko and Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in Nairobi.
Here, the stolen motorcycle are said to be dismantled are resold as spare parts.
The cartel, said to run a well-orchestrated scheme, usually targets new motor cycles obtained through financing.
