The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) have declared plans for a peaceful march as part of the ongoing doctors’ nationwide strike.
In a letter addressed to Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei, KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah has requested police assistance to ensure security during the procession scheduled for Tuesday.
The doctors will assemble initially at the Kenyatta National Hospital, then proceed to the Ministry of Health, followed by the Council of Governors, and finally, to the National Treasury. This announcement comes in the wake of recent comments by the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, who criticized the doctors for organizing strikes and processions without prior notification to the police, which he deemed unlawful.
