Kit Harington has confirmed that plans for a Game of Thrones spinoff featuring Jon Snow have been canceled. HBO/MAX has decided not to move forward with the series, which would have starred Harington in the lead role.
Speaking in an interview, the British actor revealed the disappointing news about the potential sequel.
”I hadn’t really talked about it before because it was still being worked on, I didn’t want it to be leaked that it was in the works, and I didn’t want people to start speculating or getting either excited or upset about it, especially if it might not happen.”
”We examined all aspects of the project during its development to determine if it was worth pursuing, but at present, it’s not, We couldn’t find the right story that excited all of us enough, so we decided to put it aside for now. Maybe we’ll revisit it in the future, but for now, it’s on hold.”
Despite this setback, the fantasy franchise will continue with prequels such as House Of The Dragon, with Season two set to premiere on June 16.
Filming for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Hedge Knight is scheduled to begin on June 3 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Both series are based on novellas by George RR Martin, the author of Game of Thrones.
The planned Jon Snow series reportedly faced challenges due to insufficient source material from Martin following the conclusion of Game of Thrones in 2019. Despite the cancellation, fans can still look forward to the expansion of the Game of Thrones universe through other prequels and projects
