One person has been killed following the collapse of a perimeter wall at an apartment building in Ruaka during heavy rains.
According to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, two other individuals sustained injuries in the incident. He added that a third person was rescued by the county government’s disaster management team during the operation.
As a precautionary measure, the County Government has ordered tenants living in three surrounding apartments to vacate.
Governor Wamatangi announced that a multi-agency team, comprising county and national government officials, will conduct an inspection and assessment of all structures in the county.
