A second Kenya Airways pilot has died of Covid-19 in a London Hospital.
Salah Jeizan, 57, passed away at Hillingdon Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Salah, who friends and colleagues fondly referred to as “Captain Jeizan” flew to London’s Heathrow Airport from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, on November 7. He is said to have developed breathing difficulties at the hotel where he was staying, whereupon he was rushed to hospital.
Captain Jeizan started his career at Flamingo Airlines in May, 2000. He started working for the national career a year later. People who knew the late pilot eulogised him as a good man, humble and friendly.
“A very kind man indeed,” said Winnie Mburu on Twitter. “He was our next door neighbour in South C for many years. He was a great comfort to my family when my father was ill and when he eventually died. I am heart broken by his sudden demise.”
Kenya Airways chief human resources officer Evelyne Munyoki said: “On behalf of the board of directors, the management and staff of Kenya Airways, we join the family of the late captain Jeizan in mourning their beloved one and pray that the almighty God will strengthen them during this time of sorrow.”
Salah is the second KQ pilot to die of Covid-19.
Captain Daudi Kimuyu Kibati died on April 1st this year, a week after he fly stranded Kenyans from New York, USA, to Nairobi.
Reports indicate that Salah will be buried today in London.
