Several parts of Nairobi are set to go without water for 24 hours starting from 6:00 am on Thursday, April 14, to 6:00 am on Friday April 15.
The Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company said in a statement that the move will pave the way for the interconnection of new and old water pipelines.
“The exercise will be conducted on Uhuru Highway between Haile Selassie Avenue and University Way junctions with Uhuru Highway to enable the release of the road corridor to the Expressway contractor,” reads the statement.
Following this, the whole of City Centre, Ngara, Parklands, areas along Limuru Road, Aga Khan Hospital, University of Nairobi Parklands law campus and Mombasa road including South B and South C.
Others are University of Nairobi main campus, Coca Cola Factory, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, EPZ-Athi River and the whole of Industrial Area.
Areas along Jogoo road, including City Stadium, Maringo, Bahati, Buruburu and the surrounding estates will also experience dry taps.
Nairobi City Water Managing Director Engineer Nahason Muguna has urged city residents to use water sparingly ahead of the scheduled interruption of supply.
